Jackie Pociask, MS, OTR/L, CYT, CLC

Occupational Therapist, Certified Yoga Therapist, Certified Lactation Counselor, Doula

Jackie is an occupational therapist who takes a holistic approach by considering one’s environment and looking at the mind, body, and spirit. She incorporates both her clinical occupational therapy training and experience as a yoga teacher into her work. Jackie views the person as a whole when treating her patients and believes in finding the root cause of the dysfunction rather than only treating the symptoms. Her approach is warm and rooted in building a trusting relationship with her clients.

Jackie has worked in acute care serving the pediatric and adult population for over 5 years treating both acute and chronic conditions. She has a passion for working with newborns and moms as birth itself is trauma to the body and hormones are often unbalanced that not only affect our body but our mental health. Jackie has over 4 years experience working the Neonatal Intensive Care Units, is a Certified Lactation Consultant, and completed the Dona International Certification in Birth Doula Workshop and Intro to Childbirth for Doula this past year.

She believes birth preparation and post birth pelvic floor work is crucial to promote a healthy mom. Jackie has completed coursework focusing on pelvic floor health including classes from the Herman & Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute. She is a certified yoga teacher and has been teaching for over 8 years. Jackie has presented on the use of yoga for chronic conditions across the lifespan at the Occupational Therapy Association of California’s annual state conference.

Jackie received her Master of Science degree in Occupational Therapy at California State University at Dominguez Hills and Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies at Illinois State University.

Women’s health and pelvic floor health has been a newly found passion as Jackie experienced adolescents with urinary incontinence and moms with pelvic floor dysfunction. She quickly learned it was an underserved population and an area that healthcare professionals aren’t talking about. Jackie wants to diminish the taboo of talking about urinary, bowel, and sexual health as it is a crucial part to our well-being and happiness.
