C-Section Recovery Workshop

Whether your baby is one month, one year or seven years, or if you have had any lower abdominal surgery this class will help you get your body back. You will learn different exercises to regain awareness of your core and techniques to reduce the sensitivity and improve the appearance of C-Section or other abdominal surgery scars. You must be at least 8 weeks in to your recovery to take this class or we must have a signed release form from your physician.

This class should be taken by all pregnant women planning a C-section, as there are some techniques presented that can be done Day One. Handouts will be provided. Class fee is $350 for approx 1.5 hours (55 minutes with a 5 minute break, followed by 30 more minutes; rate is divided amongst participants and is not a per person rate).

More Than Kegels

1 in 3 women have incontinence. 9 in 10 women have painful sex after having a baby on their first attempt (doesn't matter if you've had a c-section or a vaginal delivery). Even at 18 months after delivery, 4/10 women continue to have ongoing painful sex. Yes, you’ve had a baby, but it doesn’t mean the changes in your body are permanent, nor are they normal! These problems are very COMMON but are far from being NORMAL. Stop accepting the negative changes that have occured and get on a healing path.

This class will begin with basic anatomy of your pelvic floor and other core muscles. I will instruct you in exercises and exercise progressions to help get your pelvic floor back in shape after pregnancy, labor and delivery, including core strengthening which is an essential component to regaining normal pelvic floor function.

Management and prevention strategies for incontinence and prolapse are an essential component of this class. Techniques to reduce painful intercourse will also be discussed. Handouts will be provided. Fee is $500 for a 3 hour class (55 minutes with a 5 minute break, followed by 30 more minutes; rate is divided amongst participants and is not a per person rate).

The IRAS Method

Instruction in The IRAS Method is currently only available for individual instruction to patients. Qualified health care practitioners can be instructed in a group or individual setting, in your office or ours. Please contact us for details.

The IRAS Method is a unique combination of physical therapy, massage and neuromuscular techniques optimized to provide the quickest recovery of pelvic floor muscle spasm, hypertonicity and/or over-activity.

Typical diagnoses this program is successful with is vaginismus, vulvodynia, vulvar vestibulitis, vestibulodynia, genito-pelvic pain/penetration disorder, interstitial cystitis / painful bladder syndrome, urinary urgency and/or frequency, overactive bladder, and other muscle-based diagnoses that lead to painful intercourse.
