Meet Esmeralda Sandoval, PT, DPT

Esmeralda (she/her/hers), earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Miami and her Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from the University of California, Santa Cruz. Following graduation, she was accepted into the Women’s Health Physical Therapy Residency Program at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, where she worked diligently towards her goal of becoming a board-certified Women’s Health Clinical Specialist (WCS). During her residency, she also completed training through the Klose School to become a Certified Lymphedema Therapist.

Throughout her residency, Esmeralda gained experience treating a myriad of pelvic floor and lymphatic conditions, including:

  • Urinary and Bowel Incontinence
  • Dyspareunia
  • IC/BPS
  • Endometriosis
  • Coccydynia
  • Pelvic Organ Prolapse
  • Postpartum Rehabilitation
  • Post-Prostatectomy Rehab
  • Post-Mastectomy Complications and Lymphedema
  • and many other conditions related to pelvic health

Esmeralda values a holistic approach to care and believes in looking beyond the pelvis to fully understand and support her patients’ health. She is deeply committed to patient education and empowering individuals to take ownership of their bodies as they navigate their health journey together. She strives to create a comfortable, inclusive environment where people of all genders feel safe, heard, and supported in advocating for their needs.

She is also passionate about advancing advocacy for both women’s and men’s pelvic health. In a world where discussions about pelvic function are often treated as taboo, Esmeralda is dedicated to promoting open conversation, reducing stigma, and increasing awareness so that all individuals can access the care and resources they deserve.

Outside of the clinic, Esmeralda enjoys running, cooking, paddleboarding, hiking, and discovering new neighborhood cafés.

Whilst recovering in hospital after the birth of her first child, our founder Sinead O’Donovan decided that new mums deserved more help getting back to their busy lives. Drawing on her extensive medical and bio-mechanical background, Sinead envisaged a garment that would be comfortable for new mums to wear all day whilst giving her all the support she and her body need.

In Heather’s own words:

I thought it’s finally time to share one of my post-op recovery secrets — I’ve been loving that supported life in my @srchealth compression leggings since my hip labral repair surgery last October. When I wear them, my chronic left SI joint hurts less and my legs feel like they’re being micro-massaged all day long!
